Dragon-Jhereg War

From the Lyorn Records of the Dragaeran Empire

The Dragon-Jhereg War began roughly 10,000 years before the time of Vlad Taltos.

It started when a member of House Jhereg was assassinated while a guest at the house of an important Dragonlord.

The House of Dragon then demanded an apology, which it received.

The House of Dragon then demanded the name of the Jhereg who had performed the assassination. They received the head of their messenger, as a warning.

This set off a series of bloody acts of retribution on both sides, until the Emperor finally stepped in and forced a peace agreement between the houses.

The end results were devastating to both houses: almost all the greatest minds and leaders on both sides were destroyed, and it took millennia for them to recover their power and influence within The Empire.

Since this time, no Jhereg has ever assassinated a guest in the house of a Dragon, and no Dragon has ever offered shelter to a Jhereg. (Except for those who have, of course.)

There may have also been a second war between these houses, shortly before the Interregnum, which may have, in part, led to Adron's Disaster--however, records from this period are very confused. Hence, the details of this second war are not well recorded.
