The House of the Dzur is associated with war, as are the Dragons, but Dzur are more individual warriors than military leaders; the Dzur berserker is legendary. It is also known as the House of Heroes, and a Dzur hero is a common thing. Members of this House are usually referred to as Dzurlords. The House also allows outsiders to join, provided that they can defeat 17 heroes hand-picked by the leaders of the House.

A Dzur will take the Orb when immediate and decisive action is required. This sort of action being sometimes beyond the capabilities of a Hawk Emperor.

A Dzur's characteristic temper, however, will eventually spell his doom. When this happens, it is time for the tact and grace of an Issola to take the Orb and calm the Imperial throne.

- Reluctant to fight with the odds on their side: "How many Dzur heroes does it take to sharpen a sword? Four. One to sharpen the sword and three to make it worthwhile." Also; "Are you sure you aren't a Dzur?" "I'd fight you for that, but there aren't enough of you."
- Intense berserk rage, with enhanced abilities.
- Ambition to be a hero or die trying
- Quick to take offense
- Considered somewhat simplistic by some other Houses in terms of how they react to things—with violence; as the Dzur say "Only blood washes away dishonor." That's not to say that the Dzur don't have the cunning or intellect to be devious, they just don't care to.
