Hydragaar is almost certainly a reference to the philosopher who is in reality named Martin Heidegger.

Metaspeculation: The name may also be an allusion to the "six observers, six different reports, therefore six events" belief of Hydragaar's existential philosophy, by way of the multi-headed Hydra of Greek myth.
