Spellbreaker, as a separate entity from Godslayer, seems to have many similarities to Frakir from Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber.

Both are snakelike items worn about the hero's wrist, used as a defensive weapon, that display some degree of sentience.

It should be noted that the first story featuring Spellbreaker (Jhereg) was published before the first book to feature Frakir (The Trumps of Doom).

Vlad's psychic traversal of Spellbreaker on two occasions in Issola, and the resulting changes that occur in him, are more reminiscent of the "Jewel of Judgement" from Amber. That Jewel, when mentally traversed, had an effect similar to but even more powerful than traversing Amber's "Pattern".
