Norathar e'Lanya

A Dragonlord, of the e'Lanya line, and eventually Empress, succeeding Zerika the Fourth. Her full set of titles includes Duchess of Ninerocks and Countess of Haewind. She was formerly also known as the Sword of the Jhereg.

The daughter of K'laiyer e'Lanya and Lady Miera, Norathar was orphaned at a young age. This was due largely to a plot by Sethra the Younger and the Sorceress in Green to eliminate her father as Dragon Heir. As part of this plot, they spread rumours that Norathar was an illegetimate child and that her true father was not a Dragon. Sethra Lavode heard these rumours and attempted to investigate them; her parents responded by declaring war and attecking Dzur Mountain, at which time they were killed in battle.
A genescan was performed which determined that Norathar was indeed a half-breed. However, this scan was faked by the Sorceress in Green.
Ejected from the House of the Dragon, Norathar joined the Jhereg. At some point she joined forces with Cawti, and the two of them becamed famed assassins, working under the names of the "Sword and the Dagger".
The events of Yendi detail the events surrounding her reappearance and subsequent restoration to being the Dragon heir by the Dragon Council.
[edit] Current Events
Norathar recently became involved in the power struggle in South Adrilankha, where she attempted to use her influence to aid Cawti, her former partner, in driving the Jhereg Organization out of the area.
As of the later writings of Paarfi of Roundwood, Norathar is the Empress of Dragaera, having ascended after Zerika the Fourth's (presumed) abdication. From the introductions to Paarfi's writings, we know that Norathar has reigned for at least 179 years.
One of her acts as Empress was to enact a edict on crossbreeds, five years into her reign.
