Speculation talk:Brokedown Palace
From the Lyorn Records of the Dragaeran Empire
Um. The first draft of Brokedown Palace was written as a political allegory, but Steve decided to move away from this.
I will paste in my entire essay on Brokedown Palace Political Allegory as a seperate topic, at some point.
Some useful points for Speculation about Brokedown Palace, within the larger context of Dragaera, are:
- Why was László so insanely attached to the palace as it was?
- Why was the Palace so incredibly decrepit after a mere 400 years? Four hundred years is a short time for stone architecture...
- What exactly was Állam?
- What is Bölk?
- Why did the Demon Goddess have to die? And why wasn't Devera angry at Miklós about this?
- What is the River out of Faerie?
- What the heck was the Tree?
- and so on and so forth - especially with the folktales and interludes, and hints here and there.
I have some tolerably amusing notions about certain of these, which I will get to at some point. I want to flesh out the existing pages, though.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that. My source was second-hand and apparently didn't explain it to me very well. With your permission, the above entry could work very well as a start for the speculation page on this topic... My aim here, really, was to get the ball rolling, since BP (being disconnected from all the other works) is a great place for speculation.
