Speculation talk:Great Weapons

From the Lyorn Records of the Dragaeran Empire

Jump to: navigation, search

It is stated by Vlad on a couple of occasions that the "Tradition" is that there are seventeen Great Weapons.

He doesn't claim to be the originator of this claim, it seems to just be the traditional belief held by most Dragaerans.

As a result, "allegedly" is a very good qualifier to use here, methinks.

Okay, this is scary. I was just reviewing the archive on the Dragaera mailing list (which I have never done before this moment) and I found a conversation with many of the same speculations I just posted. I therefore have to give Davdi credit for the Sword of the Faerie being the Pathfinder in disguise morganti sword idea, since even though I came up with the idea independently, he clearly came up with it first.

Oh, well, you know what they say, great minds, thinking alike, and all that.
But since you mentioned it...

As I re-read Brokedown Palace, the thought has ocurred to me that Allam (the sword weilded by the Kings of Fenario) may be a component of a great weapon. There is evidence that a Great Weapon can be defused, so perhaps Allam is part of one. It's also not surprising that Verra has it.

[edit] Kieron's sword

At the end of Dragon, Aliera uses Kieron's sword, not Blackwand, to attack the disguised Pathpinder that Sethra the younger had. Sethra now had Kieron's greatsword, and it is a great weapon.

Yes, but Morrolan was there and used Blackwand, and it's implied that Blackwand was the sword responsible for Pathfinder's emergence. - Rook 00:47, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Seventeen

Is the structure of days per month and month per year really as ancient as the Cycle? Mark Mandel 18:40, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm... Looking at the way that statement flows, I see your point. However, it does seem clear that having 17 days/months flows from the cycle regardless, so does it really matter which came first? --Majikjon 19:45, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] OT

This page is the first match for "Morganti" on Google that actually refers to Brust's works, and it's 26 pages in, a couple of pages after "Morganti Ju Jitsu"... which has to be the scariest sounding martial art ever. :)
