Speculation talk:Kragar

From the Lyorn Records of the Dragaeran Empire

Jump to: navigation, search

I removed the following:

  • Possibly Dragon-Jhegaala with Kragar also having a prior incarnation as a Jhegaala. "Jhegaala shifts as moments pass." and "how genetic heritage interacts with reincarnation of the soul." "Oddly"

Because I can't think of any Jhegaala-like traits that Kragar has. If the original author thinks it belongs in there, I would ask that it be put back in the same format I used, with a "Rationale" following.

At some point, I may want to add a "Secretly reincarnated" section, but this is a good enough start, I nearly think.

Here is my thinking:

If one thinks of "shifts as moments pass" as a chameleon or as a creature that is transparent and takes on the color of the object behind it, that would fit Kragar. Maybe this is a special magical ability of the jhegaala animal that Kragar has inherited. Maybe this ability only shows up if you are a Dragon-Jhegaala crossbreed with a prior incarnation as a Jhegaala.

Justified?

I'm putting this here until someone who supports this notion writes a better-supported justification than these vague references to "panic", "effusive" and "dejected". At the very least, references to specific examples in the text should be made.

My own notions are nearly as tenuous, but at least they're better written.

==Possibly gay==
Kragar is often excessively emotional when dealing with Vlad, suggesting more than platonic feelings -- he verges on panic when Vlad's physical well-being is threatened, is effusive when the danger is resolved, and seems dejected rather than offended whenever Vlad chews him out. He has been on a date with a female of the Jhereg house(double date with Vlad and his date, at Valabar's, in the book Taltos). We have no idea how Dragaerans view homosexuality, but the fact that we have seen no evidence of it thus far suggests that they're not terribly open about it. It's possible that being caught in a homosexual relationship (perhaps with a member of another House, like Daymar) would harm his standing with the Dragon Council.
