Talk:Ori
From the Lyorn Records of the Dragaeran Empire
Actually, I'd argue that the attack was either designed to kill Vlad, or make sure he was involved. Considering what else Fornia had planned, why do we assume that this didn't work like he wanted? - Attjen
- Good question, though I don't think Fornia is a Yendi, he's a Dragon and so, I would guess, would generally not stoop to reverse psychology. His plans were a bit involved, but hardly at the subtlety of understanding some random Jhereg well enough to predict his responses to threat. -- Steve the Younger
- Isn't there a quote somewhere about how much like a Yendi a Dragon can be when he's on a campaign? Fair enough though, if the stated intention was to keep Vlad out, that failed. - Attjen
- Even if Fornia were Yendilike in battle, I suspect he would find it degrading to try reverse psychology (or any kind of psychology) on an Easterner. Ori's intention was stated as to kill or discourage, and I think that's what Fornia intended. Anything tricksier would assume that Fornia and/or Ori had made some attempt to know Vlad (a despicable criminal Easterner) pretty well, and that's seems so unDragonlike to me. Easier to kill them. -- Steve the Younger
- I seem to remember some comments in Dragon where Vlad and Morrolan concluded that this attack was likely exactly what it seemed--an attempt to keep Vlad out of it. We never get confirmation of this, but that is their conclusion. --Majikjon 14:38, 14 Oct 2005 (UTC)
