What about "Mr. Valabar", and IIRC in Phoenix, Morollan greets Noish-pa as "Master Taltos". Master/Mister is probably one or more loanwords from one or more eastern languages but it has been used. Maybe Paarfi just isn't a fan of eastern cooking and has never been to Valabar's. --Hai-Etlik 23:13, 8 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Or perhaps the use in Phoenix is just a translation of a different Dragaeran term by Brust the interviewer, that Brust the translator handles differently? Do we have any confirmation for where Marquis ranks compared to the others? The real life British title of Marquis is between Duke and Earl(Count) but in Drageara is clearly beneath Count [TPG 14].
